This is a LARGE and S P E C T A C U L A R Purple/Magenta Amethyst. The actual gem is even better than the pictures!

The gem is Royal Purple in daylight and changes to Magenta (just hinted at in the pictures) under incandescent light (most indoor lighting) .

This gem is classed as VVS1. It is polished & finished to master standards and has excellent fire. The result is a High luster, Hi end quality gem.

The Concave Cut is a three dimensional conical shaped facet applied to the pavilion of the gem that creates depth as well as length and breadth. Instead of the facets being joined by an angle, they are joined with a groove. This third dimension allows the gem to refract more light, thereby maximizing its brilliance. The Concave Cut also distributes light more evenly, giving the gem a stunning interior glow. Some gems increase up to 100% in brilliance when Concave Cut.

You will find that Concave Cut gems are generally significantly more expensive than traditionally cut gems. This is due to the following:

1) Higher weight loss (i.e. you get less carat weight from the raw material)

2) Additional labour (It takes longer to facet concave cut than traditionally cut gems)

3) Market supply/demand (a lot of people want concave cut gems and the supply is limited)
