Beryl is one of the most important gemstones and is sometimes called the “mother of Gemstones” In its pure form, beryl is colorless and is called Goshenite - it is the many different impurities that give beryl its varied coloration.
Its better known colour is blue – Aquamarine. Pink beryl is more rare and called Morganite. Perhaps the best known variety of beryl is Emerald. Beryl boasts what is commonly recognised as the most expensive gemstone on earth - Bixbite, sometimes called red emerald.
