Hiddenite is an attractive gem, but is rare and for the most part known only to collectors. It is not available in large quantities and demand amongst people in the know has increased dramatically in the last few years. It is now a very pricey gem on the market and much prized by gem collectors.
Hiddenite is one of two gemstone varieties of spodumene. The other variety is pink and is called kunzite. You will find that most Kunzite and Hiddenite have a deep pavilion (back facet depth). This is to take advantage of colour intensity. The colour and depth combine to give a sensuous and luxurious look to the gem. Hiddenite has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs hardness scale.
It is always a struggle to source hiddenite of good quality and colour and you are not likely to see hiddenite often on Bidorbuy.
