Ruby is named for it's color (Latin Rubeus) and colour is Ruby’s most important feature. Transparency is only secondary. Pigeon Blood Red is seen as the most desirable colour. In the old days this was tested against a fresh drop of pigeon blood. Fortunately for the pigeons, colour charts are used today!
This ruby is heated as accepted in the trade to permanently enhance the colour. The ruby has a good cut and is well polished with no visible damage to any of the facets under 10 x magnification.
