Ruby is named for it's colour (Latin Rubeus), Ruby’s most important feature. Transparency is secondary. Pigeon Blood Red is the most desirable colour. In the old days this was tested against fresh pigeon blood. Fortunately for the pigeons, colour charts are used today!
This ruby is natural ruby (not lab created) that has been heated and probably fracture filled as accepted in the trade to permanently enhance the colour & quality. The ruby is translucent and it is well polished with no visible damage such as abrasion or chips.
