At last I have some better pictures of Kunzite - They still do not capture the exceptionally high-luster of these sensuous pink gems. (All black areas are just shadows captured by most pictures of Kunzite - in the hand.)
Known as the "evening" stone, Kunzite was discovered in 1902 and named after G.F. Kunz - Tiffany's chief gemologist at the time. It is not available in large quantities and demand has increased dramatically in the last few years. It is now a very pricey gem on the market and much prized by gem collectors.
Examination with a loupe shows a Master cut gem with a top class professional finish, polish and luster. The gem is classed as VVS1. The colour is medium pink AA and luster is +++. Under a 10 x loupe there is no visible damage such as chips or abrasion to any of the facets.
