Beryl is a popular gem in the Jewelry Trade because of it's high luster, it's hardness (7.5 to 8.0) and it's variety of colours. Goshenite, Aquamarine and Heliodor (Clear, Blue and Yellow Beryl) are more common on the market. Morganite(Pink Beryl) is more pricey and Emerald green Beryl (Emerald) even more so. Beryl boasts the rarest and most expensive gem on earth - Bixbite, sometimes called Red Emerald.

The colour of this Beryl is a pure soft mint green throughout (Much better than the pictures - the black showing through is from the black background - it would have looked better against a white background.) - This is a classy gem with high luxurious luster. All the white is reflected light from the high luster. The gem colour is like the nice mid green visible at about 9 0'clock throughout.

The gem has been well cut and polished. Under 10 x magnification there is no visible damage to any of the facets. It is classed as VVS2.
