For those not used to buying sapphires on line, here are a few pointers.Avoid dark blue sapphires - pictures of these are usually taken under intense light. Under normal daylight or evening light dark blue sapphires are as good as black.
It is estimated that over 90% of sapphires on the market are heated to improve colour and saturation. However a lot depends on the original quality of the gem. Many heated sapphires have some colour banding. Look carefully at the pictures. However, pictures can be taken that do not show this banding. If in doubt - ask the seller a question.
Poorly cut/poor quality sapphires have windows (pale patches) or dull spots. Again, pictures can be taken that do not show these. So if you are looking for a quality sapphire - ask a question first rather than spend good money on a disappointing gem - and then have to fight for your money back.

Under 10 x magnification these Sapphires are well cut and polished. They are classed as VVS1. With a loupe you will see no damage such as abrasion marks, chips etc to any of the facets. The pictures are of the gems on auction and I am splitting up a 30 piece lot into 2 lots of 15 each.
