Emerald (green beryl) is one of the most highly prized of all gems and good quality gems are extremely difficult to source. A flawless, clear emerald is very rare and is usually found only in very small sizes.
Nearly all pictures of emerald do not do justice to the gem (as is the case here). In 99.9 % of the cases, the actual gem is more beautiful than the pictures capture. Its green coloring is due to microscopic traces of chromium or vanadium replacing the aluminum in the beryl structure
Almost no emeralds with intense color are free from inclusions. This does not reduce the value of the emerald as long as they do not take away from the durability or beauty of the stone.
