Karen Zoid and her band's third album is firmly settled into its sound, with a healthy dose of rock in the foreground. The usual bilingual character is intact with the English-Afrikaans ratio again about 50/50 for these 14 tracks.
This is easily Zoid's best delivery to date, and it has a self-assured attitude, a sense of humour and a believable streak of maturity and seriousness.
With subjects ranging from personal feelings and family to our landscape and lifestyles, Zoid also does an admirable version of Annelie Van Rooyen's song, Ek Lewe, and doesn't lose sight of the all-important sense of humour.
It is also evident that Zoid and husband Don Reinecke's songwriting is not stagnating, but constantly developing, co-producer Theo Crous also assisting in bringing out the best in it.
