Kenneth Roberts was one of America's finest writers of historical fiction- mainly because he actually really knew the history into which he placed his fictional characters. An American historical drama about a group of settlers known as Rogers' Rangers.  Led by Major Rogers and the hardships of survival and battles with hostile Indians, they encounter in trying to settle the upper New York state area for their families in the late 1750s and early 1760s.
