Soft Cover. David Philip in association with The Historical Society of Kimberley and The Northern Cape. First paper back edition 1985**  413 pages.

Some creasing and a mark to page edges and back cover as per pics but generally not bad for its age. ** an interesting and may be collectable edition as heads must have rolled at the printers or publishers as the publishers edition info and IBN number has had to be pasted in, if one looks closely underneath are printed the details for the second impression 1984. I wonder how many books they had to paste in to!!!! :)

" This is the story of South Africa's most extraordinary city. From the days before the discovery of the first diamond to the present time, the turbulent history of Kimberley is traced in fascinating detail.

besides dealing with the Diamond City as the womb of modern industrial Africa, Brian Roberts ( author of The Zulu Kings) covers all aspects of its story - its booms, slumps, strikes, ecstasies and heartbreaks. New facts have been un-earthed, old legends have been re-examined, well-known characters have been re-assessed and the great happenings - such as the amalgamation of the mines - put into perspective.

The whole story is told with the vividness, and the accuracy, for which Brian Roberts is renowned.
