Description: A nice faux gold gilded and coloured figure of a Sphinx in mint condition. Made of stone resin, this is a grand little addition to any Egyptian themed collection or alternately a decorative item in its own right. Allowances have to be made as the item has been hand finished and hand painted, therefore is unique.

History: Egyptian culture has approximately 5,000 years of recorded history. Ancient Egypt was among the earliest civilizations and for millennia Egypt maintained a striking complex and stable culture. Whilst the Great Sphinx of Giza is widely known, there are in fact countless other sphinxes with the body of a lion and the head of a Pharaoh. The latest find was, as reported by the media on 18th September 2018, at Kom Ombo, (Egypt), a 38 cm long sphinx which is believed to be more than 2,000 years old. The sphinxes were used in ancient Egypt to line the ritual pathways leading to the Mortuary temples of the various Pharaohs, and some were sculpted in their image. In this instance we can only surmise that the artists have attempted to most likely represent the Pharaoh Tutankhamun as the figurine has distinctly young characteristics.
