The combination of Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and The Utah Symphony Orchestra all giving their best make this a quality recording. Released originally on Decca Digital, it may be over 25 years old, but is not a re-hash of some old and questionable master tapes, but a still available album that had possibly been overstocked, hence some sellers still have it as new. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, recorded here during the tenure of Dr Jerold D Ottley who was Musical Director from 1974-1999 are on top form, with the late Julius Rudel conducting both choir, orchestra and soloist. Dame Kiri, sings some classics such as, The Nun's Chorus from Casanova, O Divine Redeemer from The Redemption by Verdi, The Hallelujah from Beethoven's Christ On The Mount of Olives, and a sweet rendition of Home Sweet Home in Kiri's native Maori, plus my personal favorite, On Wings of Song by Mendelssohn. There are 13 tracks in all. Some period classics, and a couple of Rodgers and Hammerstein favourites too. Recorded in The Salt Lake Tabernacle in 1989. Decca Digital release.
1x CD in very good condition, working 100%. Very faint surface scratching on CD and box.
