I think that this plaque is from the 1940′s and that it is called “chalkware”. It is in pretty good condition, but there are a few feint scratches on the surface. The scene looks like a rural Italian scene, but that is just my take on it! There are two holes that have been drilled in the rim for hanging purposes, as well as a glued on wooden notch at the back for hanging it flat against the wall (has a chip out of the wood – see pic below). I think it would look lovely hanging in a kitchen or dining room – pretty much anywhere, really!
