KMD ROYAL DAALDEROP DUTCH BRASS TABAK AND SIGAREN CONTAINERS c1900-1930

A PAIR OF ANTIQUE (c1900 - 1930S) BRASS CONTAINERS EMBOSSED DECORATED WITH A BAND OF GEOMETRIC PATTERNS NEAR THE TOP. THE LARGER CONTAINER IS HAS TABAK EMBOSSED ON THE SIDE AND THE SMALLER ONE SAYS SIGAREN.
MARKINGS:
UNDER-BASE OF THE STAND STAMPED "MADE IN HOLLAND DAALDEROP IN A TRIANGLE AND IN THE CENTRE IS A CIRCLE THAT HAS TIEL AT THE TOP AND HOLLAND AT THE BOTTOM, AND WITHIN AN INNER CIRCLE IS CROWN OVER CROSSED WITH LETTERS KDM (KONINKLIJKE METAALWARENFABRIEKEN DAALDEROP).  FROM THE DUTCH MANUFACTURER TIEL KMD, ROYAL DAALDEROP (J. N. DAALDEROP EN ZONEN) HOLLAND, FOUNDED 1898, MANY OF THEIR ART NOUVEAU ITEMS COME FROM ORIGINAL WMF (Wuerttembergische Metallwaren Fabrik Germany) MOULDS.
SIZE: LARGE ONE: 16CM HIGH UP TO LID HANDLE 12CM HIGH
SMALL ONE: 9CM HIGH NO LID 9CM DIAMETER

CONDITION: THE TABAK CONTAINER IS IN VERY GOOD SHAPE. IT STILL HAS ITS LID AND HAS ONLY 2 SMALL DENTS ON THE BOTTOM AND ONE ON THE SIDE.THE SIGAREN CONTAINER HAS NO LID AND HAS SEVERAL DENTS ON THE BOTTOM AND A FEW SMALL ONES ON THE SIDES.
KMD History: KMD is for Royal Metal Industry (formerly J.N. Daalderop & Sons), Tiel, Holland. Founded in 1898, the company is also known as Royal Holland Pewter. The company manufactured household items in the style of the new art, a tight variant of Art Nouveau. The Chief Designer was Meine Hampson and the company featured dinnerware, serving pieces, trays, boilers (such as samovars), and petroleum and gas lamps. The company grew and products were exported. In 1914, it counted 359 employees. KMD operated up to the beginning of the second world war. 
BRASS HISTORY: Brass was first discovered around 1400 B.C. it is an alloy of copper and zinc, it is closely associated in art with bronze, a copper-tin alloy. Brass has been used in the most diverse fields, from the armaments to ornaments. It was used in the 15th and16th century, brass was a fundamental metal used for machinery ... for astronomic instruments, with the appearance of the press, the machinery needed for typographical work. Brass was used to make clock gears, screws and nuts, fittings, manufacture of cutlery and stunning decorative pieces. Nowadays brass is still widely used for plumbing fixtures, gas fitting, locksmiths, self-propelling articles like thermostats and electrical components.
