Pages 234.  Chapters cover aspects inter alia Birth of a port; Ship and boat building; Sailing ships of special interest; The Royal Navy in Port etc. This publication consists of  84 Illustrations mainly black and white photos. It covers the history of Knysna as a port since round about 1575.

When Knysna as port was de-proclaimed all the records of the ships which had called in there were sent to Port Elizabeth and inadvetently destroyed. The authors realised that many visitors to the Knynsa museum had no idea that Knysna was ever a fully fledged port. Through extensive research in archives, libraries and old newspapers  the authers managed to  compile this publication in order to perserve the history of Knysna Port.
