Koehler Wheat Flame Safety Lamp
A Rare Collector's Piece
This is a genuine Koehler Flame Safety Lamp, of the presentation series made to transport the Olympic flame in 1988 via air transport.
From the Koehler USA web site: "That year (1980), the International Olympic Committee determined our Flame Safety Lamp was the only safe way to transport the Olympic flame on an airliner—a decision they made again for the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games."
This item is complete. It has never been in a mine and comes with the magnet (as shown in photo) so as to unlock it and fill the reservoir with light fuel oil. The wick may then be ignited by means of the built-in lighter mechanism mounted in the base of the lamp.
The lamp is made of solid brass and can be polished to a an exceptionally high sheen.
Ideal for hanging in a cosy pub or on a mantel shelf and will attract attention at all times.
This is NOT a replica or toy - it is the real lamp.
I doubt if there is another on the African continent.
This lamp weighs 1,55 kilograms. The lamp is made of high quality solid brass.
The buyer is to pay courier or postal costs.
Item is sold "voetstoots".
