Koevoet (pronounced [kufut]) (Afrikaans for crowbar), also known as Operation K and officially denoted as the South West Africa Police Counter-Insurgency Unit (SWAPOL-COIN), was a paramilitary-trained police counter insurgency unit in South-West Africa ("Crowbar" was an allusion to Koevoet's mission of prying insurgents from the local population).
This unit is considered one of the most effective fighting forces deployed against communist-backed South West African People's Organisation (SWAPO) guerrillas. (see image no. 9. Not part of the Koevoet shirt sold, only for information).
