Offered for sale is a fine and collectible small studio glass vase designed by the Swedish master craftsman/artist Bertil Vallien for Kosta Boda in 1992. This vase is from the Satellite series which was produced in different sizes with variations in the surface decoration. The vase is hand blown and decorated ; the shape is an unusual bottle vase with flattened sides in a mallet or spatula form with a long narrow neck and a blue applied glass collar resembling the rings around planets such as Neptune or Saturn. The lower portion of the vase is a semi opaque cobalt blue with flashes or green yellow and orange with silver foil inclusions with an irridescent finish. The vase is signed on the base viz Boda B Vallien Artist Coll with a serial number . The vase also has a cellophane makers label . Bertil Vallien b in 1938 is a world famous Swedish glassmaker examples of his work are housed in the Metropolitan Museum NY and the Victoria and Albert Museum London. He is particularly famous for his glass sculptures made with a sand-cast technique particularly boats.
