Mid 19th Century C1840
It was observed in the 19th century that paintings, the great masterpieces of the old masters, were deteriorating, and there was no technology available to restore or preserve them. To safeguard the images of these remarkable works, it was decided to transfer them onto porcelain. The KPM Berlin porcelain manufactory dedicated decades to creating the finest renditions of these masterpieces on porcelain, and no other factory in the world could rival the quality of their work. This plaque exemplifies the very best of what was produced during that era.
