Kruger Miljoene (Carel Trichardt, Ge Korsten)

This rousing historical drama speculates about the fate of the missing Kruger millions. The scene is South Africa in 1900, in the midst of the Anglo-Boer War. Boer president Paul Kruger needs money to buy ammunition, but the only internationally accepted currency is gold coins. Kruger gives his most trusted soldiers, the Kavaliers, 30 days to turn a small mountain of gold bars into Kruger coins. Kavalier leader, Chris Botha, sets the plan in motion, but the clandestine activity soon attracts the attention of the British, as well as a mine captain´s young daughter, who falls in love with the handsome Botha – who, however, has his heart set on an English nurse. By the time the coins are minted, the Kavaliers cannot escape as the British have sent in thousands of troops. Now it´s up to the two women and the mintmaster Ben to save the day.
