• Coin Type: The coin is a Krugerrand, first introduced in 1967 as the world's first modern gold bullion coin.
• Design: The obverse (front, visible in the image) side of the coin features the portrait of Paul Kruger, the four-term president of the old South African Republic. The text visible around the portrait says "SUID-AFRIKA" and "SOUTH AFRICA" in Afrikaans and English, respectively. The reverse side (not visible) typically depicts a springbok antelope, a national symbol of South Africa.
• Material: The Krugerrand coin itself is minted in a 22-carat gold alloy (91.67% gold and 8.33% copper), known as crown gold, which gives it a slightly reddish appearance and makes it more durable than pure gold
