Lovely brass ashtray  by Kurt Jobst (1905 - 1971), the well known jeweler and metalsmith. The ashtray probably dates to the 1950's.  It has a monogram 'Hz' (for Hendrikz) engraved in the centre, and is signed K. Jobst on the base.

Diameter: 14 cm

Weight:  708 g

Jobst was born in Austria in 1905 and learned his trade there. He died in South Africa in 1971.  An excellent opportunity to own a simply stylish example of work by a well known craftsman. The family friend for whom I am selling the ashtray seems to remember that Jobst added silver to a lot of his metals, which may account for the lovely soft colour of the brass.  The ashtray is in good original condition, with no removals, repairs or alterations.
