To celebrate our 100th year, KWVs Master Blender created this very special blend, a brandy that truly transcends time. Behind the award-winning KWV label, you will taste and experience a piece of South African history. It all began in 1918 with the rst-ever brandy. Two large potstills were used to distill what has become known as KWVs legendary 1926 vintage.
Some of this vintage bottled 92 years ago, is resting in this very bottle.
Nearly two decades later, KWV experienced another historic moment albeit catastrophic. In 1942, a re devastated much of KWVs Stellenbosch cellars and only one brandy cask remained. Brandy from this very special cask has been added to craft this superb bottle of brandy.
Our Centenary Potstill Brandy reects the richness of KWVs heritage as pioneers of South African spirits and contains some of our countrys oldest brandies, including some of that exceptional brandy lled 92 years ago. It is a true tribute to South Africa and KWVs brandy heritage and excellence, the most special South African brandy you could possibly nd.
This rich golden amber brandy, which has an average maturation period of no less than 37 years, has a unique avour prole of honey, tawny port, vanilla and ground cinnamon. On taste there are expressive notes of caramelized fruit, saron, tobacco, chocolate and rancio.
This is the most rare and expensive brandy ever produced in South Africa with only 100 bottles produced ever.

KWVs Centenary, the rare and once-off limited connoisseur brandy, received a near-perfect score of 99/100 in the Platters by Diners Club South Africa Wine Guide on 8 November 2019 making it the highest-rated product in this years Platters 2020 guide.
Platters is one of South Africas longest standing wine guides and highlights the quality of wines and spirits determined by a seasoned group of professional tasters. Wines and spirits scored 95/100 or more are considered 5-Star.
Producers who manage to secure a 5-Star rating are generally considered to represent the pinnacle of South Africas wine and spirits industry. The Centenary was crafted by KWV master distiller Pieter de Bod and his team and includes some of the very first brandy made by KWV in 1926, along with brandy from the only barrel rescued from a fire that razed KWVs historic cellars in 1942. The balance is completed with KWVs rarest brandies with an average maturation period of 37 years. Only 100 bottles of this limited-release brandy were launched as part of KWVs centenary celebrations in 2018. It is the most exclusive brandy ever produced by KWV, and at a price tag of R130 000, it is also the most expensive South African brandy ever made.
