Product Overview
Specially designed for 4WD touring and tested for South Africas unique conditions, the KYB Skorched4s range was specifically engineered as a lifted height heavy-duty upgrade from Original Equipment. With a large 35mm bore, the Skorched4s shock absorber provides superior handling and control when off road, and incorporates an increased oil capacity to minimise overheating and fade-out while in operation. All Skorched4s Shock Absorbers are matched to industry leading coil and leaf springs, to provide extra wheel travel of 30-50mm for lifted vehicles (in line with the industry national code of practice).
Reliability was the main task put before KYB designers when creating the Skorched4s shock absorber range. A feature of all Skorched4s shock absorbers is its reinforced metal housings, which combined with a twin-tube design, provides reliable protection against off-road damage. In addition, all Skorched4s shock absorbers are designed with strong, hardened 16mm rods, and special reinforced materials applied to guide bushings, piston and piston seal.
KYB engineers also maximised the volume of fluid inside the Skorched4s shock absorber, by increasing the diameter of the cylinder, piston and rod. This allows for the efficient dissipation of heat during intense off-road operation, reducing chances of aeration and suspension fade.
