Title: " La Sorgente (The Source) by Ingres" 40cm Statue by A Santini.
Manufacturer: A Santini, Made In Italy.
Height: 30cm.
Width: 8cm.
Depth: 8cm.
Info: Inspired by the French painter Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, who did the original painting started in 1820 and completed in 1856 in Paris.
Beautifully proportioned statue of the nude woman with the water pitcher.
Inscribed "A Santini" on the base.
The woman holding the pitcher represents a water source or spring, which is scacred to the Muses and a source of poetic inspiration.
The material is a compound of marble, alabaster and resin that was poured into a mold and then hand-finished. Amilcare Santini was a sculptor born in Florence, Italy in 1910. His firm reproduces sculptures based on his original designs, and those of several other artists. Though he died in 1975, the firm remains in business and is still run by his family. The majority of models are classical in style and are either religious or mythological in theme.
Condition: Good, some natural wear and tear which does not detract from the beauty of the statue. There are no stains or discolouration on the statue. A previous owner has attempted to utilise some filler on the lip of the urn.
