A VERY RARE ANTIQUE COLLECTABLE
This particular purse is unusual.
The standard mesh purse had a reinforced opening which clipped closed.
This one has a draw string.
On the large rings is a Hallmark 6, therefore it is from Chester, England. 1914 according to catalogue of British Hallmarks.
The large and smaller rings is marked 925.
Therefore 925 parts silver, 75 parts antimony (metal for hardness)
STERLING SILVER
Total weight = 108 grams
The mesh is not the same quality silver. Probably 725 - 780 parts silver
This does not make the purse less valuable, the mesh had to be harder metal for durability
This purse has been well used. It has been professionally repaired in 2 places with minute silver ringlets
Repair is needed along the seam in a small area.
