The Lady Smith is a replica of the steamer that was constructed in the Cochrane & Sons shipyard in Selby Yorkshire in 1906. The records of the company inform us that it was the 379th ship that was built at the yard and from the records of Lloyds shipping register we know that she had a displacement of 254 gross tonnes.
She had a steal hull and was remarkably powerful, capable of cranking up 12 knots. She is a fine example of the age of steam.
