Large 14ct Gold and Mabe Pearl Dress Ring by Guy Traest

The vintage 14ct gold dress ring is set with a large, salt water, mabe pearl (18.7mm diameter; round; lightly striated; good lustre, very light grey with rose overtones; no significant blemishes). The mabe pearl is tube-set and has a bowed surround with a textured and grooved finish. The shoulders are decorated with twig and berry type decoration. The shank is grooved. The ring is marked "14K".

The ring has no maker's mark but it was made by Guy Traest for his wife. The ring was acquired from Mrs. Traest. Guy Traest was born and trained in Belgium. He came to South Africa in 1967 via the Congo. He opened his own studio in 1974.
