Large 1920's R/Doulton Stoneware Vase by 'Ethel Beard'
This attractive, large, antique, Royal Doulton stoneware vase with its lovely tall shape, is decorated with tube-lined colourful floral motifs, with a mottled brown drip glaze above and a mottled light blue drip glaze below. It was made and designed in the early 1920's by 'Ethel Beard' who has signed the base with her initials 'EB' and is impressed with the scarce (without the Crown) 'Royal Doulton' backstamp which was used between 1923 and 1927. Along with the factory backstamp are the impressed pattern and shape numbers 'X8742Y' and '9167'. This wonderful piece is in mint condition and measures 24cm in height, has a diameter of 13cm and weighs 1165g.
