AWESOME LARGE 24,15CARAT ORANGE GOLD CITRINE GEMSTONE WITH BEAUTIFUL OVAL CHECKERBOARD CUT

AN AWESOME LARGE 24,15 CARAT (4,83G PLEASE SEE PHOTO multiply weight by 5 to get carats) ORANGE GOLD CITRINE GEMSTONE WITH A BEAUTIFUL OVAL CHECKERBOARD CUT. COMES WITH A BEAUTIFUL PERSPEX PRESENTATION CASE AND VELVET BAG.

THIS PARTICULAR STONE WAS BOUGHT FROM A SELLER IN SOUTH AFRICA IN 2011 WITH THE COUNTRY OF ORIGEN INDICATED AS BRAZIL. IT HAS A VVS (EYE CLEAR) CLARITY WHICH MEANS IT IS FREE OF INCLUSIONS AS SEEN WITH THE NAKED EYE WHICH IT APPEARS TO BE. IT WAS ALSO SOLD AS AN UNHEATED NATURAL GEMSTONE. BUT AS DISCUSSED BELOW MOST LARGE INTENSE ORANGE COLOURED STONES ARE HEAT TREATED.

I THINK IT IS A REAL CITRINE GEMSTONE AS IT PASSED OR GAVE AN UNCLEAR ON ALL THE TESTS I COULD PERFORM:
PASSED THE SCRATCH TEST: IT SCRATCHES GLASS BUT NOT EASILY IT IS HARDER THAN GLASS. I TESTED IT TWICE.

(MOHS HARDNESS GLASS 5.5-6.5 CITRINE QUARTZ 7.0-7.5)
UNCLEAR ELECTRON UV LIGHT EMISSION TEST: APPEARS TO SHOW SOME ORANGE UV REACTION. GLASS AND ALL QUARTZ VARIETIES DOES NOT SHOW A UV AFFECT. Citrine quartz is inert to fluorescence due to the presence of iron, which eliminates fluorescence. ONLINE SOURCE: If you are testing a yellow stone that may potentially be a citrine, and it fluoresces orangey-yellow under LWUV and red under SWUV, it can be scapolite or topaz which are more common minerals. Scapolite however has a hardness of 5,5-6 which does not scratch glass. But Topaz has a hardnes of 8 and scratch glass.
(THE UV LIGHT HIT THE ELECTRONS. THEY JUMP AND FALL BACK. THEY RADIATE LIGHT OF A CERTAIN WAVELENGTH WHEN THEY DO WHICH IS SPECIFIC TO EACH ELEMENT IN THE MINERAL. THIS IS CALLED FLUORESCENCE. ONLY 10% OF GEMSTONES EXHIBIT A FLUORESCENCE AFFECT LIKE RUBIES, SAPPHIRE, TOPAZ, OPALS AND DIAMONDS. GLASS AND ALL NATURAL QUARTZ VARIETIES DOES NOT SHOW A UV AFFECT.)
PASSED THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY TEST: TESTED THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY WITH A MIZAR PRESTIGE SERIES 2 DIAMOND TESTER. IT MOVED UP THE LADDER A LITTLE FROM STANDARD LEVEL 3 TO LEVEL 4. FOR QUARTZ A LEVEL OF 4 IS THE NORM FOR THIS TESTER.
(WITH THIS TESTER GLASS MAKES NO MOVEMENT.)

SIZE: 22mm x 17mm x 11,7mm

DISCLAIMER: I AM NO GEMSTONE EXPERT. THESE GEMSTONES BELONGED TO A FAMILY MEMBER THAT HAS PASSED AWAY. HE COLLECTED GEMSTONES DURING THE EARLY TWENTY FIRST CENTURY MANY WERE BOUGHT ON EBAY AND OTHERS BY TRAVELLING TO OTHER COUNTRIES. I HAVE TRIED TO VERIFY AS FAR AS POSSIBLE ANY STATEMENTS OR CLAIMS BY DOING SOME RESEARCH AND PRELIMERARY TESTS ON EACH GEMSTONE.

CITRINE:
Citrine is the yellow variety of quartz, and its name comes from the Old French word for lemon. The yellow colour is caused by traces of iron in the quartz. This occurs very rarely in nature, so most citrine is made by heat-treating other varieties of quartz - usually purple amethyst or smoky quartz, which are both more common and less expensive.By applying heat to these gems, they turn from their original colour to a gorgeous shade of gold. Natural citrine is almost always a pale-yellow colour and commands a far higher price than the processed variety. The most sought-after citrine gemstones are a clear, radiant yellow-to-brownish-red colour, however this is particularly rare for naturally-occurring citrine. This rarity means that the natural stones that fall into this colour category have a particularly high price tag.
The most abundant sources of natural citrine are found in Bolivia, Madagascar, Mexico, Spain and Uruguay. Amethysts that are heat-treated to a golden colour are mostly mined in Brazil, although other sources include France, Russia and the US, specifically California, Colorado and North Carolina.
