An antique Alert copper and brass fire extinguisher c1900. The extinguisher has a brass plaque on it marked "Tested 350 LBS; Alert, Reg.US.Pat.Off. Fire Extinguisher, Made in U.S.A, To Start Turn Bottom Up; To Charge (has directions); Made by American LaFrance and Foamite Corporation, Elmira,N.Y. It also has a small plaque on the bottom with "General Fire Appliances Co. Ltd, South African Agents, Johannesburg & Pretoria". The extinguisher stands 62cm high and is 17cm in diameter. The extinguisher is complete and in great condition. A loveley historic item for the collector.
