A large and heavy copper ship's kettle, made in England between 1870 and 1890.  A rare item in South Africa!  It is still in good condition, with a few minor dents and no holes in it. The body's measurements are 30 x 25 cm; the total height 30 cm, and the weight 2,6 kg.   These types of kettles were commonly used on ships in the late Victorian era and well into the 20th century.  According to handed over tradition, the kettle was salvaged from a shipwreck at Cape Recife near Port Elizabeth in 1917.  This is really a great collectable and showpiece.
