Large Antique Photograph Magnifier (B.T.E. S.G.D.G.) (Paris & London)

 

This early, large cylinder shaped, and I presume, photograph magnifier appears to be made from blackened brass and two large domed thick pieces of magnifying glass. The one side can be separated with an interlocking thread. This unusual piece came with an old collection of photographic equipment that included three old 'Leica' cameras. It is stamped on the side 'PARIS, LONDON' 'B.T.E. S.G.D.G.' 'PATENT, PATENTIRT'. The piece measures 13cm in diameter, with a width of 5,8cm and weighs 840g.
