Large Antique Silver-Plated Toast Rack (With Broad Arrow Mark)
This lovely, large, fine quality silver-plated toast rack from the early 1900's, has a nice simple shape with nine round bars to hold eight slices of toast, and stands on four round ball feet with a large ring handle. It was made in London, England by makers (George Richmond Collis & Co.) and is stamped 'EPNS A1' and 'COLLIS & Co.' on the base. This toast rack belonged to the British military in its early days as it is stamped under the handle with the British Army 'Broad Arrow' mark. One bar has come away from the base on the one side (please view last photo), which doesnt effect the use in anyway, and other than a very minor bend in the handle, it's in good condition with no loss to the plating. It measures 23cm in length, stands15cm high with a width of 9cm and weighs 330g.
