Large Bing & Grondahl 'Hans Christian Andersen' Figurine (2037)
This beautiful, early, large, hand painted porcelain figurine from the 1940/50's, features the world-famous Danish author 'Hans Christian Andersen' seated, reading a story to a young girl standing beside him. The figurine was made in Denmark by the 'Bing & Grondahl' (B&G) factory, who merged with the 'Royal Copenhagen' factory in 1987 and was designed by 'Henning Seidelin'. The base carry's the blue and green factory backstamps and the model number '2037', and this backstamp dates this piece between 1948 and 1952. This lovely figurine is in excellent condition and measures 15cm x 15cm, with a height of 23cm and weighs 1,33kg.
