A large Globe earthenware ashtray with an attractive green glaze. An excellent example of the wares made by Globe Potteries, which operated in New Muckleneuk, Pretoria , from c.1920 to 1957. Condition good: no chips or cracks but there is the usual amount of crazing from age and use. Diameter 190 mm; height 55 mm. The base contains the impressed Globe mark but this is obscured by the white glaze and is difficult to photograph (see last photo below)
