Large Granville T.G. Green Lidded Storage Jar.
This item is known as a Granville Stoneware Crock made by T.G. Green Ltd. in Church Gresley, England.
The Granville range was introduced by T.G. Green as a response to the demand for rustic kitchenware in the late 1960s and early 1970s. T.G. Green & Co. was a well-known British pottery company founded by Thomas Goodwin Green in Church Gresley, Derbyshire, in 1864. The Granville line was named after a small area near the factory. The pottery produced many hundreds of designs over its history, though it's most famous for its blue and white striped Cornishware. The original factory at Church Gresley closed in 2007, and while the brand was later revived, pieces from the original production period are vintage collectibles.
Original Use The Granville line included various oven-to-tableware items like casseroles, baking dishes, and lidded storage jars, such as the one pictured. These crocks were designed for practical kitchen use, including food storage for items like flour, bread, or cookies, as well as serving dishes for stews or casseroles. They were popular for their durability and classic farmhouse aesthetic.
