This knife was made for me by the father of a friend of mine. I started making a knife out of leafspring and showed it to him. He offered to finish it for me the way he wanted it, so i let him.
The knife came out awesome! I cold-blued the blade so that it would not rust easily. So far no rust.
It is a fairly big blade, but not that heavy. Handle is nice and chunky so you can get a good grip on it. There is plenty of material to still shape the handle if desired.
** There is a small spot near the tip of the blade that was brazed. It is still strong and make no difference to the cutting edge of ability **
The pommel and the guard are both made out of aluminium that accounts for the light weight in hand.
This knife can be used as a hunting knife. The gun-blued finish must however be removed because it remains toxic. ( according to articles online )
The heat treatment on this knife is very good. It has a slightly softer spine to handle some flexing with a much harder and durable cutting edge. It takes a very sharp edge. Enjoy!
