Large Japanese 'Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts' Vase
This rare, impressive, large, art nouveau/arts & crafts Japanese pottery vase, from the early 1900's, has a wonderful shape with an iconic and beautiful pattern. It's hand painted and decorated in colourful enamels in the 'Liberty - Archbald Knox' style, combining Celtic themes and nature. The vase features three large panels, with what appears to be two birds of paradise around a peacock feather in each panel, connected with a Celtic pattern at the top and bottom. It is painted in soft varying shades of light & dark blue, purple, green, and gold against a purple background, applied thickly, giving it a raised feel. This wonderful piece is in excellent condition and makes a statement wherever you put it. It is stamped 'JAPAN' on the edge of the base, and stands 32cm high, measures 18cm at its widest and weighs 1,7kg.
