Victor Norman Visser was born in Warmbaths on 27 July 1907 and grew up in Pietersburg. In 1932 he married Martha Elizabeth Lombard in Brakpan. The family moved to the Strand in 1937 where he was employed as a window dresser and signwriter at Friedman & Cohen's department store. He started painting as a hobby and the interest shown in his work was such that he was inspred to paint full time. This he did and he painted until 1989 when he retired. He had, by this time, moved to Johannesbrug where he died of a heart attack on 1 March 1995.
