A finely worked perforated stone of substantial size and weight, measuring 11 cm in diameter, 8 cm in height, and weighing 1.146 kg. The piece is symmetrically rounded with a centrally bored hole tapering from both sides, characteristic of digging-stick weights used throughout southern Africa. Such weights were fitted onto wooden shafts to add force when harvesting roots and tubers, an essential part of subsistence practices among indigenous communities. The stone exhibits a smooth, weathered patina and signs of careful shaping by pecking and grinding. Its excellent condition and balanced proportions make it a particularly impressive example of this traditional tool type. Condition: Very good, with natural surface wear consistent with age and use. Comparable examples are held in the collections of the Iziko South African Museum, Cape Town, and the British Museum, London. Estimate: R6,000.00
