Offered for sale is a fine large stoneware charger made in Mthata, Eastern Cape (formerly Transkei) by the famous Izandla pottery studio. The piece is hand thrown and decorated ; it is made from an oatmeal coloured stoneware which is hand painted with a tenmoku and iron red slip with a distinctive combed ,swirled motif. The piece was most likely made during the tenure of Lindsay Scott famous Natal potter as Production Manager ie 1979-1984. The decoration is attributed to Cynthia Ngubo.
