This 28 cm tall pottery Toby Jug, probably is a product of of one of the Stoke-on-Trent potteries, made in 1940/50’s for display in pubs or country inns. These were produced in large quantities. Compared to the artisanship of the fine porcelain examples produced by Royal Doulton, these are crude. They were never intended to be admired at close quarters, because they went on display on shelves or in nooks and crannies. The glazing over the slip body is thin and the decoration limited to a few basic colours.   Please add R45 for postage
