Large vintage cast iron and enamel HMS London naval frigate plaque. I bought these from the dispersal sale of contents of a hotel - they were hanging in the bar. I would estimate that it dates to c1985. HMS London was a Type 22 frigate of the Royal Navy, originally named Bloodhound but renamed London at the request of the Lord Mayor of London. She was flagship of the Royal Navy task force during the First Gulf War in 1991. This plaque is manufactured from cast iron, and is painted with enamel. It is large and heavy, with the oak backing shield measuring 45cm x 33cm and the cast iron shield 30cm x 22cm. It weighs 6kg. The plaque is in very good condition. Great buy for your mancave.
