 VINTAGE SPINEL GEMSTONE MULTI TIERED FLORAL DESIGN 
14CT YELLOW GOLD RING. 585. COLLECTABLE.

This vintage piece is very unusual and unmistakably vintage in age and appeal! The 22mm wide x 21mm long ring head is a multi petaled flower almost like a hydrangea, with a wine-coloured spinel gemstone claw set on each petal, with an openwork circle behind it. The shank is flat polished 14ct gold with a central open circle at the top where solid 9ct gold elongated claws hold the gemstones and the petals a splendid 14mm above the finger! The central stone is 0,12 carats. There are 18 additional round cut spinels that together total 0,36 carats, giving an overall total of just under half a carat of rubies. The beautifully crafted piece has been carefully made so that each petal sits quite separate from but attached to the ones around it. It is in good condition with only some buff marks on the shank. The shank is seriously solid and thick all the way around to the back. The overall weight of the ring is 6,12 grams making it a particularly solid piece of vintage jewellery. The piece bears the 585 hallmark indicating 14ct gold. Very substantial at 6,12 grams. There is no date mark so I cannot date it accurately. I bought it from an antique jeweller in Birmingham in the Jewellery Quarter of England. The colour combination is beautiful as the 14 carat gold is a deeper yellow than 9ct gold and the spinel gemstones are a deep reddish purple colour, somewhere between a ruby red and an amethyst purple. A real collectable, vintage piece of English jewellery!
