DRAMATIC HANDCRAFTED SMOKY QUARTZ AND BLUE SAPPHIRE  STERLING SILVER RING. SLIGHTLY OXIDISED EFFECT.

This large, domed, cigar band piece created out of solid sterling silver, sports a large smoky quartz on the top of the dome, 'floating' a magnificent 11mm above the finger, suspended by large gold brass-tipped claws, with openwork around it. A frame of single, round cut white "stones" is claw set around the smoky quartz, followed by 10 x round cut, deep blue sapphires (almost the colour of lapis lazuli), set in blunt-tipped large gold brass-tipped claws. These hold the sapphires facing outwards, the claws creating an almost protea leaf effect around each gemstone. A second row of small white stones borders the sapphire level at the bottom. The shank is broad (11mm wide) where it meets the ring head, narrowing to 4mm under the finger for comfort. The shank is slightly oxidised sterling silver with loads of tactile detail on the broad shoulders, and a heart shape on each shoulder. A row of circular openwork holes in the sterling silver around the base of the ring head adds interest as well as allowing light to pass through the gemstones. This is a solid piece, weighing a really bold 10,7 grams. A showy piece, with much drama!
