This is an exceptional 14K gold encased quizzing glass from the late Georgian era, it was made some time between 1830 and 1840. Although this piece is unmarked, I have tested the gold plating to be 14 karats. Please note that this item is gold plated and not solid gold. This piece contains its original bevelled glass and is fully functional.
The craftmanship of this item is truly outstanding. A functional item, and an item of beautiful art.
In the Georgian/Regency period it was very fashionable to wear long chains with a quizzing eyeglass at the end
