Le Creuset Doufeu cast iron casserole lid (Dutch oven).
First introduced by Le Creuset in 1934, the name "Doufeu" is derived from the French words "doux" (soft) and "feu" (fire), signifying "gentle heat" cooking.
It is crafted from high-quality, durable cast iron, which is known for its excellent heat retention and even heat distribution.
The lid is uniquely designed with a recessed top that can be filled with ice. As moisture evaporates inside the pot, the cold lid causes it to condense, and the dimples on the underside of the lid then drip this moisture back onto the food, ensuring continuous self-basting during slow cooking.
